Mahmut Saral (MS): First of all we salute you for id Software's 20th year. id Software made cult games like Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein in this 20 years. What do you feel and what are your thoughts for coming years?
John Carmack (JC): The next couple years are all about Doom 4. Hopefully Rage will be a success and we can do a Rage 2.
MS: You answered a question with "...in our next Quake game..." and "But we don't have anyone working on that matter." I believe you think about making another Quake game. Is it true?
JC: We are thinking about it, and doing a bit of planning, but there isn’t an official project rolling.
MS: You told that you may publish a Super Texture Pack for Rage's PC version. Did you use this pack on latest Rage videos? Will you use "Super Textures" in Doom 4?
JC: The videos are just using the normal game data. There is a decent chance we will fill the PS3 Blu-Ray with more data than we ship on DVDs for Doom 4, but we will have to see how much trouble it is maintaining two complete builds of the data. I would love to let the PC stream extra detail over the net when needed, but that would take a significant server and bandwidth commitment that I’m not sure we can make.
MS: In QuakeCon 2009, Todd Hollenshead said that they will be showing Doom 4 in QuakeCon 2010. He said that he's sorry and they won't be showing Doom 4 in QuakeCon 2010. This year nothing has said for Doom 4. I think you are waiting for Rage to talk about Doom 4. Is that right?
JC: Yes, we didn’t want anything to overshadow Rage this year. The Doom team is also thankful not to have to go into “demo mode” for a while longer.
